Chair’s Welcome

I am delighted as Chair of the Friends to welcome you to our website. Bushy Park and Home Park are two wonderful large green oases in the south west corner of London. Feeling wild, they are natural places with ancient histories, fascinating heritage and superb wildlife. Both are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) containing rare species. These are places to be enjoyed and conserved. Which is why the Friends exist, campaigning, supporting and protecting the parks, and enhancing visitors’ enjoyment with information, advice and guidance.

Memorial

This tablet (turn left at Teddington Gate into Bushy Park) marks the site of the European Headquarters of the United States Army Air Force in World War 2 and was was dedicated by the RAF to their comrades in arms. Attached to one side is a bronze plaque to commemorate the 50th. Anniversary of the ending of the Berlin Airlift, 12th May 1949, which was unveiled by the Prince of Wales on 14th. May 1999.
