Our committee of trustees are responsible for oversight and all significant decisions regarding Friends’ policies, finances and operations.
Chair – Colin Muid
Colin Muid has been Chair since March 2016.
President – Pieter Morpurgo
Pieter Morpurgo was Chairman from 2007 to 2012. Pieter undertakes the scrutiny of planning applications affecting the parks.
Vice Chair – Barry Purdon
Barry Purdon is Vice Chair, the Appeals Coordinator, represents the Friends on the Safer Parks Panel, and is the Friends’ safeguarding officer.
Treasurer – Adrian Heywood
Adrian Heywood ensures funds and accounts are properly controlled and arranges for their inspection to meet Charity Commission requirements.
Secretary – Fred Squire
Fred Squire ensures that the Friends’ operations are in accordance with its’ constitution and Charity Commission rules.
Minutes Secretary – Iris Hawkes
Iris Hawkes records Friends’ formal meetings.
Volunteer Coordinator – Rosemary MacColl
Rosemary MacColl manages the Volunteers who operate the Visitor Centre.
Visitor Centre Manager – Sue Robertson
Sue Robertson manages the contents of the Visitor Centre including publications, displays, and commercial activities.
Trustee – David Ivison
David Ivison is joint editor of the quarterly newsletter.
Trustee Claire Ivison
Claire Ivison is joint editor and distribution manager for the quarterly Newsletter.
Trustee – Annie Murray
Annie Murray was Chair, from 2012 to 2016, and Vice-Chair in 2017.
Membership Secretary – Pat Dickinson
Pat Dickinson is not a Trustee but is a member of the management committee.
In January we started using Normansfield Theatre in Teddington for our Talks programme.
Easter saw the introduction of the Volunteer Community Rangers 3-year trial scheme in Bushy and Richmond parks.
The new Visitor Centre was granted planning permission.
An appeal was launched for fitting out the new Visitor Centre.
A motion-sensitive camera was purchased for Home Park to observe owls.
Stoup Basin Hoods were purchased as the final restoration of the Water Gardens.
A Barn Owl Manor was purchased for Home Park.
Planting in Long Water, to provide sanctuary for fish fry.
Funded the trompe l’oeil paintings in the Water Gardens arches as part of the restoration project.
The 25th anniversary of the founding of the Friends of Bushy and Home Parks was celebrated.
Funded the installation of metal reed sculptures in the Water Gardens as part of the restoration project.
Provided a set of Interpretation Boards at four sites around Bushy Park.
