OUR ACHIEVEMENTS - 2019

In January we started using Normansfield Theatre in Teddington for our Talks programme.

Easter saw the introduction of the Volunteer Community Rangers 3-year trial scheme in Bushy and Richmond parks.

Opened the new Visitor Centre in Bushy Park in June.

Raised nearly £14,000 in the appeal towards our target of £15,000 to fit out the Visitor Centre. The unusual design of the interior is unique, by Robin Johannsen, a local artisan.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day in June, we organised a leaflet with a self-guided walk, around the location of Eisenhower’s headquarters, Camp Griffiss, in Bushy Park, where Operation Overlord (D-Day Landings) was planned.

October saw the retirement of the long-serving Bushy Park Manager, Ray Brodie.

Planted 30 cherry trees in the Woodland Gardens in November, a present from Japanese businesses to mark the next Olympics, to be held in Japan

Learned In December that the joint bid by the Bushy Park management, the National Physical Laboratory and the Friends, for a “space sapling” had won.
